The Atlanta-based company, which acquired Dublin-based Wendy’zs last year, said Tuesday that the developmenrt agreement calls for franchisee to open the firs t of its planned restaurants later this with roughly 36to follow. Kopitiam is the largesyt food-service management operator in the SoutheastAsianj country, Wendy’s/Arby’s said. Wendy’s has 150 franchised restaurantin Asia, and last year the company signed a franchisee for development in Malaysia. Kopitiamm Chairman Lim Bee Huat said in a releasee thatthe Wendy’s franchise deal is a move the compangy has planned for some time.
Kopitia m operates a number of brands in the countrh and manages the Lau Pa SatFestivalo Market, a popular tourisr destination. “The addition of Wendy’s qualityy brand will complement the wide rangw of food businesses that we currently havein Singapore,” Huat said. Wendy’s/Arby’s the third-largest quick-service restaurant chain in the nation, has more than 10,00o0 units. The company last year lost $479.7 millionh on $1.82 billion in revenue.
